Yes We Did.
It is impossible to express how elated I feel about President-Elect Obama. I just cry a lot, and have resigned myself to crying for the next two days. As a black person, as the auntie of several young black boys, as the daughter of a black man, an Obama presidency chokes me up. I have been holding my breath for a year, and my tears are part of exhaling and rejoicing. … like the young kids who hooped and hollered down my Bed-Stuy street when CNN called it for Obama.

Ever since I discovered Obama in early 2007, I've been waiting and hoping that this day would come. I tried to keep cool on the outside while screaming with joy on the inside, but I couldn't hold back the tears while watching his speech and the celebration.
My only regret is that I wish he didn't have to enter office in such difficult times, but I also think he's exactly what this country needs to guide us through the next few years of recovery and rediscovery as a country.
